Description
I'm Kismet, the Feral Grandma. The "Kismet" part has been my handle since way back in the 90s, when the common approach to being online was "don't give out all your information, identity theft is real." The Feral Grandma part came out of a simple conversation.

Loki's handle is also from back then. And Dyson was found when we came home from Christmas shopping a long time ago. He's a good dog.

Loki and I went carnivore 48 months ago, I felt so good I haven't looked back. Had a TIA (the allegedly "small" stroke). I'm doing what I can to pull my brain together, rebuilding and writing new neural pathways. Keeping up my workouts, playing a video game, and finding things to talk about that may be good topics to share.

I'm not a doctor, if I was, I probably wouldn't be YOUR doctor. Been an EMT, so sometimes I make decisions for myself, based on information that would have me telling anyone else to go to the ER.

the Feral Grandma Possible introduction to tatting tomorrow. I have some rope I can use to show what the knot is, then switch to a shuttle and small thread to show how it looks at real size. (8 days ago)

the Feral Grandma I had a happy accident today. I needed something to help prevent possible snakcidents later, as I might be watching the theater kids at the highschool later, so I opened a can of the corned beef I've mentioned before. By the time it's processed and gets home to our kichens, it's as soft as canned salmon. The idea started there. I added two eggs and a little mozzarella, but that still seemed too wet, one packet of Knox unflavored gelatin later and it was so much better. Some bacon drippings in a hot skillet, and the corned beef patties browned nicely and had munchy edges. If I hadn't been listening to Korean dramas, there might have been video, or at least images. the Feral Grandma I might not be on much this week and weekend. Winter is coming. Texas doesn't get soft, pretty, Christmas card snows, except maybe three blocks of some residential neighborhood street in Amarillo. Texas gets ice storms blasted straight from the north polar region of Hell. The locals don't drive well on it, and people who used to live with snow think it's just like snow. Until they sail off an overpass or roll down a steep embankment. We have canned meats, some of which are regular, retail items anyone would recognize tuna, spam, corned beef (NOT hash, I'm not paying beef prices for a product that's mostly potatoes), plus some bacon and turkey I put into mason jars and processed at home. If you have retail canned meats for times like this, please check if your supplies will provide the fats everyone in your home needs. To say the power grid might or might not go down is to embrace optimism. Optimism doesn't heat food, so we have other options, safe to use indoors. For extra laughs, many here don't wear socks, or own a decent coat. Winter is coming. See you on the other side. (12 days ago (edited))

It's men who shunned danger that made this world you live in.

People can choose to be wrong about many things, and often do. But when they are wrong about the physics of flash floods they endanger themselves and others. Next time I'll just call it in.

I agree with you.
