Queens, Kings & Dastardly Things The Wars of the Roses weren’t actually called that at the time. People living through the conflict (1455–1487) didn’t refer to it as the “Wars of the Roses” — that name became popular centuries later, largely thanks to historians and Shakespeare. The white rose of York and red rose of Lancaster were symbols used after the wars to simplify a very messy civil conflict. Queens, Kings & Dastardly Things Did you know that during the Wars of the Roses, King Henry VI was literally found hiding in a shop? After being deposed, the unlucky monarch was discovered tucked away in a tannery — a leather-processing workshop — in Lancashire. Queens, Kings & Dastardly Things 🎾 Fun Fact About Henry VIII! Did you know England’s most famous king wasn’t just busy ruling (and, uh… getting married a lot)? He was actually sports-obsessed — especially with real tennis, the ancestor of modern tennis. Henry VIII loved the game so much that he had one of the earliest custom tennis shoes ever recorded and even built an indoor court at Hampton Court Palace… and it’s still there today! Queens, Kings & Dastardly Things Did you know that in 1997, Princess Diana visited Angola and Bosnia to advocate against landmines? She compassionately met with children injured by them and even walked through a demined minefield. Her efforts, which garnered global media attention, significantly raised awareness about the dangers of landmines and helped build momentum for the 1997 Ottawa Treaty, which banned their use. The Worst Spare in Royal History? Prince Harry’s BIGGEST Mistake! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yft85X8qy0

George VI was also a spare that rose to the occasion. I have a place in my heart for him. I think he loved his daughters enormously.

Being a Spare is not all that bad: you have all the privileges but not all the responsibilities and you are not constantly in the public limelight. Sounds alright to me.

Spare me, haz has been treacherous to his family, they've all had problems, which I can understand, but his disloyalty for a woman he didn't know was repugnant.

The official position may be that he was a spare (Harry), but trust me, Diana was over the moon to have him and she loved him dearly. He was very much wanted. His grandmother (QEII) absolutely doted on him. He is looking for the negative. If you look for negatives, you will find them. Harry chooses to focusing on the negative.

It's not as if Harry was kept chained in a dungeon between public appearances. It can't be too unhappy a life being 1 of 2 royal children. And even though not outright heir to the crown, he was an heir to fortunes & unparalleled prestige.

I disagree with Profs. Williams. Harry had all the privileges to become a successful man, but his decisions led him to become a vile traitor, the dumb prince, and the doormat man.

It wasn't just royalty who treated their mistresses bad, it was every rich man who did so.

Princess Anne shows how important it is that a "spare" has their own place in the world apart from the Monarchy. Her horses and her estate have enabled her to have an identity that is not reliant on the Monarchy. Charlotte and Louis need to find their passion and be able to follow it alongside any family duties they may have.

Princess Diana absolutely loved children, if things had not gone wrong between her and Charles she may well have had 4 or more so the 'I was only born as a spare' doesn't wash Harry.
mryan779 (3 months ago)
Harry's life did not need to be the mess he made it into!!!! My bet is Catherine and William will never let Charlotte and Louis be pathetic wastes!!!! All three children will have an education!!!

If I was the spare I would just enjoy life and think how privileged I was given

What to do...go to school, get a job, marry, start a family, live your life. It beats standing around hoping somebody dies soon.

What do you do as spare? Having access to the best education, I would get it, study and then get an interesting job outside the RF and all the klimbims!

Isn't it a good job we have an up and coming Princess as a spare..because these male spares Andrew and Harry and their partners have been an embarrassing pompous greedy selfish think they are above the law telling lie after lie..just disappear as your an embarrassment to our monarchy..

Spares want what isnt theirs to have. All children should be taught they need to earn their livleyhood. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutly.

Spare was a craptastic, look at poor me book..... truly a disgrace
