Boston Mountain Homestead

We are a husband and wife team starting a homestead. My husband works out of town so most of the work is done by myself but, My husband helps when he can and is home. He builds what I can dream up and makes it happen for me.
Some of my goals are to have a garden and to raise chickens, Guinness, goats, some ducks and geese. I have also been thinking about raising some pigs for the freezer.
We found this property in the Ozark Boston Mountain of Arkansas. It is a little under 2 acres and has a pond that is dry most of the time. The property came with an older mobile home on the Property with a 40 x 60 cover over it. We turned this older mobile home into a shed and we purchased another mobile home to live in. We have a composting toilet system and public utilities.
Come join us while we learn from our successes or fails while we make this property the farm of my childhood dreams and our forever home.

Such a terrifying event. Thank goodness you were not hurt. What a sad situation for that boy, all messed up on meth. Hope they can get the help for him he needs, for everyone's protection. Glad you have taken training and will use this experience to grow more confident in using protection that is available to you. Thank you, Father for your protection.

Glad you are okay. I have the threat of illegals, a jerk narcissistic neighbor, and wild animals. Sadly I can't depend on law enforcement. Can't wait to vote the current sheriff out. I'm 20 min from town but I can't depend on there even being anyone to come out. I have LGD's to protect the goats and Prairie to protect me. She is not kenneled. My doors are locked at night, but anyone threaten me and they are likely to get bit. We have to protect ourselves.

It broke my heart to listen to the emotional trauma you endured. I was relieved some to hear you were not physically hurt and did get help but the terrifying time you had is so scary. You are brave and thoughtful to share this to warn others. This definitely makes me think and evaluate more. Praying God will give you comfort and peace to deal with this in time. Praying for that guy also that he gets help. God bless you.

Dear sweet sweet woman, DO NOT beat yourself up over this. Dont let this make you scared, but do learn from this experiance. Unblock your back door, carry everywhere with you since you have your permit, it will become second nature. Stand your ground, you did the best you could in that situation. Remember situational awareness. You are strong, smart and did amazing in that situation. Learn and grow from this. hugs

Hello, oh my, my heart goes out to you. I know what you have been through from experience. Even when I was armed security officer there was sometimes a sense of false security because you never knew what the other person would do. Even now our police officers do not have a sense of security. One thing for sure if you ever have to use your gun do not ever feel guilty for protecting yourself. The only time I have shot my gun was at the shooting range but one thing for sure, if I have to use it to protect me and my family I am going to do just that. I might not aim to kill but I will aim to wound so that we have a chance to get away. I have been in to many situations that you say to yourself "if only I had --------" I could have protected myself more. It is sad that in today's age we have to live on alert at all times, because we never know what might happen. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!, you are safe and sound and no one was hurt. Grieve a little because you need that and you will come out stronger and boulder. Love you friend and God will protect you always.
