It's funny because Hydras and Cyclopses are also mythological creatures! :P

Hydra: Mmmm a tootsie roll.
DeuceyDee (14 years ago)
Imagine if these things were huge...
Alex06CoSonic (13 years ago)
The way it eats that thing...It reminds me of the squid or of the famous Kraken from mythology and subsequent works of art.

Hydra! Stop playing with your food!
endimion17 (13 years ago)
Nope, they can't feel either. Feeling requires a central processing unit, which they lack. They just react to an input, similar to dead frog's muscles.

I suspect this one came from a lake in central Michigan, as did the cyclops. They're found just about anywhere, though, as I've found them in lakes and ponds from various states in the Midwest.

hey come on guys the guys whos the food is a water flea which is a crustacean i.e prawns, lobsters etc. the hydra is a cnidarian i.e like jellyfishes etc which contains stinging cells
AkikoKitty98 (14 years ago)
How interesting.

Hydra only die in accidents. They are Biologically Immortal
speciousreasons (14 years ago)
@jackhorncool They are copepods, a subclass of crustaceans, basically tiny crustaceans like shrimp only structured differently. The cyclops are named because they have one primitive eye in the center of the body. If you search for "copepod cyclops" you'll get more information than you might ever want. :)

Dude these things are pretty awesome!! They are like the demons from the microscopic world! I reasearched on them because I heard they would eat baby fish fry....i have 5 baby guppy fish..
firedrakeer (15 years ago)
Wow... Spore doesn't have tentacles >:(!!!!
speciousreasons (13 years ago)
@dhaval007mca IIRC, both the hydra and the cyclops have nerves and/or a nervous system, but neither have much of a brain. They can feel but "think" is probably pushing it. If it makes you feel better, I suspect the cyclops was already injured or dead before I put it in with the hydra, and the hydra was put back in the jar of water.

Part 2?
happyorangeanimation (15 years ago)
@trevianflowers They can still sting you though, apparently. But yeah you're right it's not that scary I guess
