Hey everyone,
A few days into the new year, so I wanted to make another post with some updates/reflections.
I want to start by saying that 2025 was some of the most fun I've had making videos. It didn't exactly go the way I planned at the start of the year, but I am proud of each and every video I made. I think they sparked debate and got y'all fired up one way or the other. I love seeing that kind of passion!
I feel blessed to be in a place now where I can pursue almost any topic and get a steady base of loyal viewers who will come out, regardless of their thoughts. A little while ago, I made a post concerned about the channel trajectory, wondering if I may have to continue YouTube as a hobby instead of a job. I would have been content with that.
Thankfully, things seem to have stabilized. I want to thank everyone profusely for tolerating that post as well. The last thing I want to do is ask for more support than y'all have already given me when times are tough for everyone. If videos perform consistently like they do now, I'll be here a while yet. Humbled to be in this position after so long on the platform.
I want to continue the momentum going into this year. I am working on a fun video about my favorite games of last year. I try to do something a little different every year, and the idea I had for 2025 is my favorite so far! Hopefully it's a fun watch.
From there, gonna have to play it by ear. I want to broaden my horizons a little bit. Push out of my comfort zone. The last two videos I made might be a little more representative of the projects I pursue. I actually started a substack recently to write short pieces on games I've been playing lately.
Wrote something fun about Dragon Quest II, and I'll certainly be adding to the blog as the year goes on:
https://open.substack.com/pub/kingklo...
I'll also be plugging away at original videos for Nebula. Finished my three episode series called Masterful Mimicry about the intersection between inspiration and interactivity in video games. This latest episode centered on Cuphead discusses how the pain of playing the game reflects the early animation industry, its rubberhose style, and the slow rise of cartoon labor unions.
Check it out on Nebula if you're interested. I'll have a more official plug soon:

I'll try to do some more streams if I can work up the energy as well. It can be a bit tiring for someone who prefers to stick behind the curtain on the typewriter, as it were. It's fun to hang out though!
That's about all I got. Thanks for an incredible year, hope you all have a great new year!

UPDATE:
Hey everyone,
Just released the long-awaited Xenoblade 3 video! Response has been spectacular. That video was a massive weight on my shoulders, so having it done and out there has been a huge relief.
I apologize that it took so long, but it was a video that I wanted to get right. It went through an unbelievable number of drafts. It ended up being the hardest script I have ever written, and I never want to look at it again (in a good way). I hope that it lived up to your expectations!
If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to discuss the future of the channel.
My viewership has declined in recent years, but it has been steady enough for me to make an okay living. While I am doing fine enough, it is also a somewhat tenuous position to be in. Too many more hits, and I will probably end up in a situation where I'll have to find part-time work or quit YouTube full time—both of which will mean that I can no longer put out videos at a regular cadence.
Pair this with almost every creator across the board taking a substantial viewership hit from YouTube's new age verification system and restricted mode shenanigans (which has likely caused my Xenoblade 3 video to be my worst performer yet) I am a little anxious about my overall future on the platform.
I don't prefer to be in that kind of situation, so I am going to reluctantly ask for additional support from those who are able and willing.
I essentially have three avenues for financial support: YouTube memberships, Patreon, and Nebula. They all offer something different.
YouTube members will be able to post custom emotes during streams (which I have been doing more of). I am also currently exploring the idea of doing member only streams where I gather footage for future videos, but for now, this is what you get for $1 a month.
Patreon is also $1 a month for one day early access to ad-free versions of my videos. This means no YouTube ads, but also no sponsored segments. This is perhaps the most direct way to support me while also getting away from the absolutely obnoxious YouTube ad ecosystem.
Nebula is a little more expensive ($6 a month or $36 annually using my specific link). All videos there are ad-free as well, but you also gain access to exclusive videos I produce over there. Have ones on Hi-Fi Rush, Astro Bot, Balatro, and more. I am currently in the process of working on a higher end Nebula Plus project you might be interested in soon involving Okami and some other games. While this is a more expensive option, it supports me all the same, and you also gain access to every video/creator on the platform with the same benefits.
I do not expect additional support by any means. Your viewership and comments mean the world to me all the same. Times are tough, and money is precious. However, I would be lying if I said I did not worry about the future of this gig without a more stable financial footing. If you love my work and want it to persevere through YouTube's enshittification—I would humbly ask for your support.
Thanks so much, and have a wonderful day!

Help, I actually want to play more Donkey Kong 64. Something is wrong with me!
If you missed it, we streamed my blind playthrough of DK64 yesterday for nearly 9 hours. The VOD is up under the Live tab, as will all future streams going forward.
There will be a new video in the next couple days, but streams have been a fun way to catch up with everyone in between. Looking to get another DK64 stream in very soon https://www.youtube.com/live/iDxa6QC7...

Let Link punch when he's out of weapons, it would be hilarious to see speedrunners punch Ganon to death.

On the note of voice acting, I think the three best sounding characters are Revali, Teba, and The Deku Tree. Who are all voiced by the same guy.

One of my favorite discoveries was baseball. I had no arrows and I was trying to figure out how to kill a moblin on a pedestal that was chucking rocks at me....and I swung at the rock...only to watch it fly back and hit him! It hurt him very little, but it was so much fun I just played baseball with him til he died.

Don't usually post, but I just had to bring up one issue. The blue flame shrine actually does account for a wooden weapon, as one of the hidden chests right beforehand gives a korok sword, which is flammable.

I love the Zelda voice actress personally. I actually took my case in to be autographed by Patricia Summersett, and she loved voicing her, and even knows how to write the Hyrule language lol

I never thought of the Dark Beast Ganon fight as a boss fight, more like an interactive cutscene. I assume they needed that form to finish the story and didn't want to be anticlimactic with Zelda just wrecking it on the spot.

I think beast ganon was meant as more of a cinematic spectacle to end the game, not really as an engaging fight
