SUBSCRIBERS: Upon reflecting on Victoria MacKenzie-Childs’ recent passing and all the home footage that has given millions of her appreciators around the world direct access to her whimsical genius, I’ve felt called to dust off some home footage I shot with another extraordinary lady, Holocaust refugee Maria Altmann (portrayed by Helen Mirren in the movie Woman in Gold), when I was her caregiver for the last three years of her life while pursuing an acting career in LA in the 2000s. I wrote a book about that transitional time in my life called The Accidental Caregiver and Victoria has inspired me to turn it into a kind of mini-doc I’ll be posting tomorrow. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet and spend time with some very strong and iconic women who have helped shape art and culture, and who exemplify elegance and exuberance. I look forward to you meeting the woman behind “Woman in Gold.” 🙏

She was a beautiful soul. And what happened to her and her company is an absolute travesty of justice. This poor soul and her husband had their company stolen from them.

This makes me so sad. She is the kind of person you think would live forever because of her outlook on life and beautiful spirit. She was so kind and sweet and real. Now I’m crying. Just found her a couple of months ago. And, now the thieves that stole her artwork won’t acknowledge her. They will continue to get rich off of her talent and vision. Now I’m angry and sad. She will be so missed. Rest in peace, sweet and talented Victoria. ️

I HAD A NURSE FRIEND IN CALIFORNIA WHO DID UP HER ENTIRE HOUSE IN MACKENZIE/ CHILDS . EVERY ROOM WAS INSPIRED BY HER STYLE. THE WALLS, THE FLOORS, THE CEILINGS.....
