You need a 4 stroke engine if your planning to run your generator for extended periods of time. Two stokes do not get adequate bottom end lubrication when run for extended periods of time at a steady rpm. They need that revving and dropping off of rpm to pull the fuel and oil mix through the crankcase to oil themselves. You will not see maximum 2 stoke engine life in this kind of application. Four strokes are perfectly happy running at steady rpms for hours, even days, as long as they can stay cool, have an adequate supply of oil, and are positioned level enough to distribute oil throughout the engine.

U do know if you use a gm one wire alternator you wouldn't even have to have a battery for a ignitor.
