Description
My name is Ærin Moriarty & I came out of the closet and immediately made appreciating women my whole job. I originally went to school for Electronic Media and Film so I love talking about media and influential figures in show business, especially Taylor Swift and other pop stars. I also do story times and discuss things I've experienced in my life from the perspective of a late-in-life lesbian.

Aerin Moriarty A while ago I mentioned a series I'm gonna call "Media That Changed My Life." I have 2 "scripts*" done at this point, one on Lady Gaga's male "drag king/male alter ego" Jo Calderone, and one on how Jack's Mannequin's "Everything in Transit" seemed to spookily Foreshadowing Andrew McMahon's cancer diagnosis. What do yall want first? * well, i'm calling these scripts. It's more just a collection of bullet points that I want to go over when I discuss each topic. (2 weeks ago)

Aerin Moriarty Hey yall! I busted my ass to get the last 2 videos out before the final End of Eras episodes released last night. I am not going to rush my videos for 5 & 6 so much cause it is Christmas and all, and I wanna spent time with family. They will be coming, just most likely later this week. (1 month ago)

Aerin Moriarty Hoping to go live a bit later today to start live reacting to the New Heights podcast! Aiming for 2pm EST, or just over 2.5 hours after the posting of this message! If you haven’t seen the video I posted last night discussing it, highly recommend you take a look before we get started if possible! (5 months ago)

Aerin Moriarty Had a fun time on stream today! Planted a lot of seeds & went into a lot of theories I have about the podcast. The cast of characters (poet, showgirl, director, producer), the gender performance, a lot of bigger picture view stuff and so much more. Will be doing lives breaking down the pod bit by bit, this is a good primer for those! As I’m disabled planning these is hard so turn on notifications if you wanna see more! I will keep the recordings up in the Live tab so people who can’t make it can still see what happened! (5 months ago)

I think Ned praised Ariel so much because she did the things he wanted her to instead of questioning things like the unequal division of house labor

My husband doesn't follow the Try Guys but knew them through me and was tangentially hurt by Ned's behaviour. My husband is known as "The Wife Guy" to some of his friends (partially because he's the only married one in some of his circles), and I can say he is legitimately the most respectful, most loving partner I am lucky enough to have married. When the whole Ned thing blew up and it ended up on his own Twitter feed, my husband felt so horrible because a lot of people were saying that a man who puts his wife on a pedestal or who declares how much he loves his wife is hiding something. My husband actually came to me upset and asked if I didn't believe how much he does love and care for me because of how much vitriol he was witnessing about husbands online.

You talking about a lot of their fans coming from broken homes, and how they looked to the guys as true examples of men who display true love. As someone who falls under that exact category, I really appreciate you highlighting that I genuinely admired the love the guys showed for their significant others. This was hard for me to process this news based on that.

Thank you for talking about the misogyny underpinning Ned’s behaviour! His and Ariel’s comments about 1. Their very gendered family roles and 2. His stereotypical sexist disregard for her as a ‘mother’ and not her own woman / taking her performance of those gender roles for granted - are so revealing.

One thing you pointed out stands for a lot of marriages; husbands whose wives have had children now only view them in a maternal light. This is EXTREMELY toxic for marriages...your wife is still a human being outside of motherhood. Her wants, needs, desires have not changed because she is a mother. I really lost sight of myself and my identity after becoming a mother and my husband was the one who reminded me of who I was and who I still am. He brought me back to life, in a sense. Ned's Valentine's gift rubbed me the wrong way the moment I saw it. Don't take a romantic holiday and turn it into "well you're a mom now, so..." I feel for Ariel so much.

The Yale comment is spot on! So many men like Ned realize that women are integral to their success, but still treat them like they are less than

Thank you for this break down. Ned is awful patriarchal privileged dude as many men are. He is not an exceptional dude. I wish Ariel well. She is trying so so hard to keep it together all this time and then now through this BS.

Ned will understand the stress of cleaning when he has to clean up after himself when she hopefully finally dumps him cause he doesn't deserve her. I would pay to see him struggle with having child visitation cleaning up after himself and 2 kids, I bet he will struggle hard

Ned is also a failed stand up comic, so…that tracks. Alexandra is 31 and Ned is 35. Ariel is 36. Age isn’t the issue here, it’s run of the mill shittiness. Alex was also Ariel’s friend so…doubley betrayed.

The grief Keith spoke about was so important

Alex is 31 - she graduated high school in 2009.

Wow the clips you picked and your commentary at the end was great! I’m 33 and still single because I’m so reluctant to get married. Everyone makes marriage out to be so great, but…is it really that wonderful? Meeting a guy who turns out to be like Ned is literally my worst nightmare. I wanted to puke when Ariel said Ned invited several people he had previously hooked up with to their wedding. Who in their right mind does that? That should have been a red flag to Ariel right there.
