Sam Whitacre History of Disney Parks: Part 4 - Animal Kingdom, California Adventure and Tokyo DisneySea Inspired by The LEGO Story and Irate Gamer's History of Video Games By mid-1995, Disney Parks made every change and replacement from the beginning to the present. Disney's America was announced back in November 1993 as a Disney theme park with its theme revolving around the history of the United States. The theme park was scheduled to open in 1998, but after receiving negative reactions from various groups and other factors, the idea from a project was canned in September of 1994. It wasn't until Michael Eisner would build the newest fourth theme park in Walt Disney World called Disney's Animal Kingdom, previously known as Disney's Wild Animal Kingdom, announced in 1996. There's also a second Disney water park in Florida called Blizzard Beach, and it was the greatest water park ahead of its time. There's Discovery Island, Asia, Africa, the Oasis, and Dino Land U.S.A. as well. Construction began between 1996 and into 1998, and it opened softly on April 22, 1998. And here's a great fact, Countdown to Extinction was one of the dark rides that draws comparisons to Indiana Jones Adventure and its name was changed to Dinosaur to cash in on the Disney 2000 CGI animated movie Dinosaur as it featured an Iguanodon protagonist named Aladar after the Disney Renaissance ended with Tarzan and the Post Renaissance began with Fantasia 2000. It was originally sponsored by fast food company McDonald's from 1998 until ten years later. With Animal Kingdom becoming the fourth successful theme park, Disney would open its second theme park that's located right next door to Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California and they called it Disney's California Adventure. It opened on February 8, 2001, and it was the most second popular theme park in California. It included attractions like California Screamin', Sun Wheel, and of course the most infamous Superstar Limo. Back in 1991, it was supposed to have a California version of Epcot named WestCOT, but ultimately scrapped and never saw the light of day. So thankfully, Superstar Limo closed in 2002 due to unfavorable response from critics. Even Disney CEO Michael Eisner was facing some serious problems with California Adventure. And for better or worse, Soarin' Over California was the most successful flight simulation ride in history, and it's hosted by Patrick Warburton. On September 4, Tokyo DisneySea was opened and it marked the second theme park to open after Tokyo Disneyland, only seven days before the September 11 attacks and the fall of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York City. It was the most popular theme park in Japan after that event. But if anyone could breathe life back into the Walt Disney Company, it was Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. It was the first Disney live-action movie to receive a PG-13 rating since it premiered on July 9, 2003 after it had its premiere in Disneyland Park. Coming up next, the rise of Bob Iger and Hong Kong Disneyland. ‪@SBDisneyFan2K6‬ ‪@Blakeharris634‬ ‪@1_LUV_H4NN4-B4RBER4‬ ‪@TheHadleyScopeCompany‬ ‪@S1LLY_G1RLS_UND_P4NZ3R_L0VER‬ ‪@1_LUV_M1R4M4X‬ ‪@Mr.WesleyAnderson_Official‬ (6 days ago (edited))
