Jiminy Cricket
However, as well known as the 1991 version is, it wasn’t the only version made though. While we know that version the best out of all them, they had made others versions too. The film became a general release starting with this release of the film, and as such, change became inedible. Starting on April 10th, 1992 to promote “101 Dalmatians”, the next version was made without previews. It was also made to test out the green FBI screens which premiered earlier in the year, so this version occurred as the equivalent of testing a guinea pig for an experiment. What’s also interesting’s that they kept the cut short version of the 1989 logo intact from the previous version instead of upgrading to the full version like the laserdisc did. Rather bizarre, but interesting to say the least about this version of the film

Now back to the VHS, the 1991 version’s the most well known version since that was what us kids growing in the 90’s introduction to the film. I especially can vouch for it since it’s from the best damn year ever, my year of birth. That’s why it’s worth nothing that like all the other 1991 tapes I went over back in November, this was another example of a tape going from vertical white label to horizontal silk screen. This was the only former title of the series to have it because the 1991 reissues of “Dumbo”, “The Sword in the Stone”, and “Alice in Wonderland” only had a single version made with the silk screen labels. This one followed the suit that all the new titles had that year, which is why else this reissue stood out that year too

Back to the American release, now as I mentioned way back in the beginning when this film started our tribute in the summer, the film had a second release in the series on July 12th, 1991. The VHS contained a cut-short variant of the 1989 WDC logo that was exclusive to that release only. However, the regular full version of the 1989 WDC logo has appeared in front of the film itself one time before. That was right here on the laserdisc of the film from that year too

That’s all for that title, but the next one’s going to be a huge one since it covers one of the BEST films of all time. BUT, before we cover that film, we got some more bonus miscellaneous to go right through. Not only that, but I’m also going to play a little catchup on facts for titles that I missed. Of course, the first one to play catchup with is naturally the first title in the whole series “Robin Hood”. In the U.K, the film had its next release in fall 1992, a year after us Americans got our second release of the film. This release is interesting because the 1992 distorted WDC logo just debuted on the previous title talked about “The Rescuers”, and lo and behold, here it is on a tape outside of our own country. The 1989 WDC logo wasn’t the only one to appear outside of our country, the 1992 logo did too. The logo appears here, but not in its full proper form though. It’s seen in a short edited version preceding a trailer of “The Great Mouse Detective”, which was known in the U.K as “Basil the Great Mouse Detective”, as I had mentioned when talking about that film a little while ago. It’s not the only one, as other 1992 U.K tapes have this too, but we’ll get to those after we play our game of catchup. But, this kills two birds with one stone because not only am I playing a little catchup with this fact, I’m also showing an appearance of the 1992 logo outside of our country too. This is something you’ll see quite a few more times as you’ll see
