All this "I love you enough to not kill you" sounds like a form of "don't you know how lucky you are I don't beat you" which is prevalent in the south asian community.

Naww. Who said romance is dead? He tolerates her enough that he doesn't want to murder her. What a keeper /s

Why are they "fighting for a marriage"? Who is your opponent?

Even Megan Fox didn’t like her movie roles.

Reminds me of how Cameron Diaz was portrayed in the 00s. She always played the cool girl characters that women aspired to be. A beautiful woman that looks like a model who's fun and quirky, rejects things women normally think and do, doesn't complain/nag about men's bad behaviors, always flirty and sexy and in the mood. Gone Girl also showed the downfalls of being the cool girl as well, but at least she was aware that it was a facade she could just switch off when needed.

I would rather be the dorkiest person on earth than be with a man who doesn't significantly raise my quality of life.

Never been a cool girl, always been a “too angry girl”

Dax grew up in the town next to mine. This dude couldn't come from a more generic upper-middle class lineage lol. Upper class bad boy is the worst kind of bad boy imo.

We even got songs about this phenomenon. Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” and Demi Lovato’s “That’s Just Me” come to mind. What were the offenses of the “other” girls? Dressing in typical “girly” clothes, being cheerleaders (a “girly” sport) and expecting to be respected by men. That last one is demonstrated in “You Belong With Me” in the line, “you’re on the phone with your girlfriend; she’s upset. She’s going off about something that you said, cause she doesn’t get your humor like I do.” Girls/women weren’t even “allowed” to have standards for the way they should expect to be treated by their boyfriends. You were just expected to be a “pick me”, let your boyfriends treat you like “one of the guys,” and get ridiculed if you spoke up about it. I’m super glad this toxicity is getting called out by this generation.

This is a Trauma bond. The man thst hurts you will help you through the hurt he's causing. I don"t want to constantly fight to stay together. It sounds stressful to me.
