I mean it's not like they die... They just change form so they can continue to help their companion/friend. Even in the end when they chose sleep they are still there for them. Protecting them as Dream Eaters.

i havent found out about dream eaters until today and i looked at the thing to reveal that they are fallen keyblade wielders, but i dont care and just think they are cute and i shouldnt think more or less about it to make my brain melt

Think of dream eaters as those summons you would get from KH1 & 2 , then would start to be less sad.
