Thank you for mentioned bipoc with being alt during this time i had scene/emo and goth phases (goth stuck with me and I’m still goth at 28) and I’m indigenous and my whole family hated it and my friends were basically like “idk if you should be alt bc you’re brown” it was roughhhh

I love that you added 3OH3 as scene music because a huge chunk of their fans were scene kids at the time (including me lol) but because they didn’t dress “scene” they were never really lumped in with the culture. Scene music started as that crunkcore type music

Emo and scene looks way cooler now that we have e-girls and all the weird things nowadays

I hate how nowadays, ESPECIALLY people who have had a scene/emo phase look back on it cringing... as someone who's now 23 and have been emo since the age of 16, I don't get it. both of these styles are so much more unique than whatever people look like on tiktok these days (what I mean is they all look the same-ish to me lol)
