I don’t think Gabe is a ghost but more a manifestation of their grief. So while Diana was the only one actually seeing Gabe, Dan was also struggling with the grief of losing his son but he couldn’t grieve him because he had to help his wife. So when Diana leaves him he’s finally confronted with the grief that he has been ignoring the entire time

bruh you ruined the whole surprise of gabe not actually being there

Gabe is not a ghost! Never was. He’s just a baby when he died and to cope with grief the character we all see is the embodiment of it! Every one aside from Henry or the doctor are touched by grief in this story. The mom constantly feeding it as she hasn’t moved one while the dad blocks it out because as “the man of the family” he wants to fix it all and denied himself to feel that grief until Diana leaves and his alone to face it. Dan’s also the one who held him as he died. Gabe to Natalie was a shadow of a brother she never knew and therefore had power over her presence making her feel invisible. When Diana left she was touched by grief not of Gabe but of the mom she now actually lost like she said she wished and feared.

I thought gabe was more like grief personified instead of of a ghost like he essentially haunts the narrative for everyone in his own way
Lilly-qw7kl (7 months ago)
Gys gabe isn’t a ghost not everything is literal dan couldn’t see him the whole time, also the beginning his death wasn’t revealed the lyrics are literally the same as original. Ahh well

the way you looked at him at 9:42
Art_By_Owen (7 months ago)
gabe is the embodiment of grief when he says "i know you know who i am" and dan responds with "no" thats him finally acknowledging his grief for the child he lost which is also why Gabe seems a little bit different hes changed from dianas grief which was powerfull and child like to dans which is scary and unnerving because dan has been ignoring his grief refusing to see or feel it until diana leaves because hes scared to

I will say, I don’t think Dan was always able to see Gabe, I think the moment he does see him (and I could be wrong so feel free to correct me because I have only seen next to normal once) is Dan finally feeling what Diana has been feeling this whole time.

You should introduce him to Starkid
